It has been quite some time since I had read a book in ‘The Devil’s Eyes’ series. I was looking forward to being reunited with Nick, Kayla and Ryan. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed in this book.
I’m not sure exactly what I expected from this book, but this wasn’t it. I guess I had hoped for more of a novella, or even a short-story. Instead, this was a collection of deleted scenes from earlier books, along with some letters from different characters to Nicky.
While some of the content was a nice “extra”, none of it warranted a separate book in my opinion. The format also seemed disjointed to me. There didn’t seem to be any particular reason that the selected scenes were included, or any flow to the content.
Again, this is probably due to the fact that I expected some sort of story here. That isn’t the type of book this is. The whole thing was reminiscent of one of those video game magazines/guidebooks to me, breaking down who the different characters are and providing a few more insider insights.
All in all, it was okay for what it was. It wasn’t what I had hoped for, but I probably should’ve paid more attention to the blurb.
